Composed by Rouget de Lisle in 1792, it is part of the process of affirmation of the idea of ​​nation, it represents one of the first (for some the first) examples of a modern national anthem and has established itself as a model for republican ones, in contrast to the slightly earlier anthem of the British monarchy God Save the King.
