The houses in Riomaggiore.
The Cinque Terre are definitely one of my favorite places to visit when I'm on vacation at home.
This is Riomaggiore. I took the photo from about a kilometer from the center along the very steep (and very tiring) climb that leads to the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Montenero.
The houses built one on top of the other are one of the symbols of this part of Liguria.

Riomaggiore, like the other Cinque Terre, is squeezed between the Ligurian Sea and the steep mountain range that branches off from the Apennines near Mount Zatta and descends in a south-east direction, forming a watershed between the Vara Valley and the coastal area.
