One of the characteristic alleys of the town of Ostuni, the White City in Puglia.
Narrow streets, stairs, house doors, shutters: all this is the spectacle that thousands of tourists see when visiting this splendid village that has nothing to envy of other white towns like Mykonos or Ibiza.
It's been a while since I took this image but I like to always keep a few nice ones to publish in "lean" times.

The most peculiar feature of the historic center, which so fascinated tourists, was the whitewashing of the houses up to the roofs. The use, attested since the Middle Ages, derives, in addition to the easy availability of lime as a raw material, from the need to ensure the narrow streets and narrow spaces of medieval layout greater brightness, given by both direct and reflected light.
