La lapide a Moneglia in ricordo della vittoria della battaglia di Meloria.
Visitando il bel borgo marinaro di Moneglia non potete mancare una visita alla chiesa di Santa Croce al cui esterno campeggia questa bella lapide (che forse è un bassorilievo) con a fianco due anelli di una catena.
In realtà quei due anelli sono stati donati dalla Repubblica di Genova alla città di Moneglia, e più esattamente ad una suo cittadino, per riconoscenza per la partecipazione alla storica e vincente battaglia contro Pisa.

The Battle of Meloria was a historic naval battle involving the fleet of the Republic of Genoa and that of the Maritime Republic of Pisa. The battle, which took place on August 6, 1284 off the coast of Porto Pisano, greatly weakened the Pisan naval fleet, beginning the slow decline of Pisa as a maritime power in Italy during the Middle Ages.
