The Civic Tower of Rapallo

La Torre Civica di Rapallo

The Civic Tower of Rapallo.
One of the symbols of Rapallo is its splendid Civic Tower, the tallest building in the coastal town, built next to the church (pieve) of Santo Stefano, of which it mistakenly appears to be the bell tower.

Have you ever seen this tower in Rapallo, do you know it?

The largest and most important of the ancient towers of the city, the Civic Tower is a structural work from 1473. According to historical sources, its construction was commissioned by the noble citizens to symbolize peace among the inhabitants of the village after a century shaken by internal and power struggles between the major city factions of the medieval era.

The D’Albertis Castle is a historic residence in Genoa, home to the Museum of World Cultures and the Museum of Peoples’ Music. Built in 1886 on an ancient bastion of the 14th-century Walls by sea captain Enrico Alberto D’Albertis, the castle is today one of the most appreciated house-museums in the Ligurian capital.

Lasagna alla bolognese from Ca’ Pelletti restaurant in Bologna

Lasagne alla bolognese del ristorante Ca' Pelletti a Bologna

Lasagna alla bolognese from the Ca’ Pelletti restaurant in Bologna.
A couple of months ago my friend Simone and I went to Bologna for a weekend during which we savoured all the delights that the Emilian city has to offer.
One of these delights is, as you may have understood from the title, lasagna alla bolognese.
These lasagnas were made by the Ca’ Pelletti in the centre of Bologna and they were truly delicious.

The recipe my dad wrote to you about lasagna a while ago.

The troughs of Santa Brigida square in Genoa

La piazza dei Truogoli di Santa Brigida a Genova

The Santa Brigida trough square in Genoa.
When you get off at the Genova Principe train station and walk down via Balbi, you can't help but notice this much-photographed glimpse: in this little square, in fact, there remains one of the public wash houses that were once present throughout Genoa.
Furthermore, the little square is very well kept and the houses all around are splendid.

In the centre of a small square that opens up into the maze of alleys between Via Balbi and Via Prè, surrounded by tall buildings, which were restored in the mid-1980s, are the “truogoli di Santa Brigida”, with an elegant metal roof, one of the few survivors of the numerous public wash houses that existed until the 1960s in every corner of the city.

The portico under the Vasari Corridor in Florence

Il portico sotto al corridoio vasariano a Firenze

The portico under the Vasari Corridor in Florence.
When visiting Florence and Ponte Vecchio, you cannot help but notice this portico that runs for about ten meters between the bridge and the Uffizi.
This portico is nothing other than the support for the famous and mysterious Vasari Corridor, a sort of secret passage built by Cosimo I de' Medici.

The Vasari Corridor was built in just 5 months at the behest of the then Duke Cosimo I de’ Medici in 1565 by the architect Giorgio Vasari, who had already built the current Uffizi Gallery. The work was commissioned to coincide with the marriage between the Grand Duke’s son, Francesco, and the Archduchess of Austria Giovanna of Austria.

The bridges of the Fico Valley in Sestri Levante

I ponti della Valle del Fico a Sestri Levante

The bridges of the Fico Valley in Sestri Levante.
To climb to the Rocche di Sant’Anna, the remains of the church above the road and railway tunnels that connect Sestri to Lavagna, there are two roads: a more direct and steep one dug into the rock and the other older and lighter one that uses five medieval (but probably Roman) bridges recently renovated.
You can see a couple of them in the photo.

Video Sestri Levante 2022

Walking around Sestri Levante with my Gopro Hero 10 Black.
On this page I decided to collect all the videos that, due to bandwidth and space problems, I publish on my Youtube channel.
They are all in HD or 4k but always at the maximum resolution at which I can record.
I hope you like them all.

Since I have shot a lot of them, and will continue to do so, I have divided them by years (i.e. the periods in which I am at home and record and publish them):

A few months ago I took a splendid path that from the road to the Bracco Pass goes to Monte Nicolao and then, if you want, also climbs up to the top of Monte Groppi which is located on the border between the municipality of Castiglione Chiavarese (GE) and the municipality of Carro (SP).
From there you can enjoy an exceptional view thanks to the 869 meters of the peak!

I'll also leave you a link to a nice article that explains better the path I took: passeggiareinliguria.it.
