Buildings on Twenty September street in Genoa seen from the churchyard of Santo Stefano.
Whenever I can, when I find myself on Via XX, I go up to the church of Santo Stefano for a moment to photograph the street and the buildings from above.
Not everyone knows that going up Via XX, just after the Monumental Bridge, there is a small staircase (which does not promise anything good) that leads to the splendid church of Santo Stefano and to the churchyard which in reality is nothing more than a terrace on the main street.

La Chiesa Parrocchiale N.S. Della Neve di La Spezia

La Chiesa Parrocchiale N.S. Della Neve di La Spezia.
Girovagando alla scoperta della Spezia ho trovato questa bella chiesa che purtroppo però era chiusa in quel momento e non ne ho potuto vedere l’interno.
Da fuori però mi ha impressionato per i colori e, informandomi poi, sulla storia (leggenda) legata alla sua fondazione (che vi spiego brevemente più sotto).

In a house outside the city walls, a short distance from Porta Biassa, there was a house inside which was kept a painting on wood, representing the Blessed Virgin.
One day the Lagora torrent overflowed due to heavy rains, invading the house that housed the precious effigy. In the midst of so much destruction, only one thing was saved: the sacred image of Our Lady of the Snow.

L’abside della chiesa della Santissima Annunziata di Portoria a Genova.
Qualche tempo fa, quasi per caso, ho saputo che durante le feste natalizie a Genova si organizzavano delle visite guidate in molte chiese cittadine (alcune normalmente chiuse al pubblico). Una iniziativa sulla falsa riga dei Rolli.
Questo era l’interno della splendida chiesa ed in particolare l’abside poligonale, decorato dall’artista Giovan Battista Castello detto “il Bergamasco” con scene raffiguranti il Cristo giudicante e gli Evangelisti.

La chiesa dell’Annunziata, la cui storia è strettamente legata a quella dello scomparso ospedale di Pammatone fu costruita con l’annesso convento, a partire dal 1488 dai Minori francescani, che la officiarono fino al 1538, quando ad essi subentrarono i Cappuccini, ancora oggi presenti nella chiesa, che prestarono assistenza spirituale ai malati nell’adiacente ospedale di Pammatone fino alla sua chiusura negli anni venti del Novecento.

The dome of the Santuario della Guardia behind Genoa.
Some time ago I went for a nice visit to the Santuario della Guardia, just behind Genoa.
The church has a simple and not very ostentatious appearance but on the vault and in the dome the decorations are still very beautiful and in front the coat of arms of Genoa stands out.

A simple plate of soup in Vietnam

A simple bowl of soup in Vietnam.
A while ago now I went to visit my girlfriend in Vietnam and, passing through the city of Hoi An (the famous Vietnamese city of lanterns), we had lunch in a restaurant and I had a bowl of soup with noodles and a glass of fresh pineapple juice (which cost more than the soup!).
If I'm not mistaken it was a dish called Hoi An Wonton Noodle soup with crab meat prepared in the restaurant Morning Glory.

The red bricks of the creuza which, in winter, hosts some of the small boats and gozzi of the small port of Tellaro, one of the most beautiful villages in Liguria.

Tellaro is the easternmost hamlet of the municipality of Lerici, in the province of La Spezia. It has been reviewed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The town is a small seaside village, perched on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of La Spezia. A destination for many Italian and foreign artists, Mario Soldati found a home here during the long years of his old age.

The altarpiece, dating back to the artist’s youthful period in Botticelli’s workshop, shows four saints standing in a line against the backdrop of a grove whose foliage can be glimpsed beyond a blue sky. From the left, they meet Saint Roch, Saint Sebastian, Saint Jerome and Saint Helen the Empress.

Street art per le vie di Lugano in Svizzera

Street art per le vie di Lugano in Svizzera.
Diversi mesi fa sono stato a fare una gita di un paio di giorni nella bella cittadina svizzera di Lugano e, passeggiando per le animate vie, ho incontrato questa opera in un giardino lungolago.
Lugano è una città molto attiva artisticamente parlando e questa opera, di Nicolas Party (Head, 2019, acrilico e olio su vetroresina, LAC) ne è la testimonianza.
