Some waterfalls admired in the Geirangerfjord

Some waterfalls seen while sailing through the Geirangerfjord.
Last year I sailed, a couple of months, taking cruises in the Norwegian fjords. Perhaps the most famous is Geiranger and its waterfalls.
The Geirangerfjord is a fjord located in the western region of Norway, famous for its breathtaking beauty and spectacular natural landscape. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005, recognizing its ecological and landscape importance.

Here are some of the distinctive features of the Geirangerfjord:
1. Incredible Landscape: The Geirangerfjord is surrounded by steep mountains, cliffs and towering peaks that rise vertically from the waters of the fjord. This landscape creates an extraordinary visual spectacle, with spectacular waterfalls, green valleys and small villages dotting the coastline.
2. Seven Sisters and Bride's Veil: The Seven Sisters and Bride's Veil are some of the most famous waterfalls in the Geirangerfjord. The Seven Sisters are seven separate waterfalls that cascade down the mountains and the Bride's Veil is a thin waterfall that looks like a veil hanging along a rock face.
3. Fjord Cruises: One of the best ways to explore the Geirangerfjord is through boat cruises that offer a unique perspective of its spectacular rock formations and waterfalls. During the cruise, visitors can enjoy panoramic views and discover the rich flora and fauna of the region.
4. Dalsnibba: The Dalsnibba viewpoint offers a breathtaking view of the Geirangerfjord and the surrounding mountains. Situated at an altitude of around 1,500 metres, this viewpoint allows visitors to admire the full beauty of the fjord.
5. Outdoor activities: The region around the Geirangerfjord offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain walking and kayaking. Nature lovers can explore the trails that lead to spectacular panoramic views and enjoy an immersive experience of Norwegian nature.
6. UNESCO World Heritage: In 2005, the Geirangerfjord was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, recognising its ecological importance and unique value as one of the most spectacular fjords in the world.

In short, the Geirangerfjord is a Norwegian treasure, a gem of natural beauty that attracts visitors from all over the world for its majesty and magical atmosphere.

Here is where the fjord is located:

The Geirangerfjord (Geirangerfjorden) is a fjord in the Norwegian region of Sunnmøre in the south of the county of Møre og Romsdal. It is a branch of the much larger Storfjorden and within it is the famous village of Geiranger. The fjord is one of the most visited natural sites in Norway and since 2005 it is included, together with the Nærøyfjord, in the List of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO. The presence of these two fjords in the list is however threatened by a plan to build some power lines through the fjord.
