Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen.
Located in the heart of Copenhagen, it is one of the most fascinating attractions in the Danish capital. Built between 1606 and 1634 by order of King Christian IV, the castle is a magnificent example of Danish Renaissance architecture and houses some of Denmark's greatest cultural treasures.
The castle was originally conceived as a summer residence for King Christian IV. Its elegant Renaissance architecture blends in perfectly with the surrounding landscape, which features beautiful gardens and a picturesque moat. Over the centuries, Rosenborg has witnessed many historical events and has been home to various members of the Danish royal family.
Today, Rosenborg Castle is a museum that houses the Danish Royal Collection. Among the wonders on display, visitors can admire the Danish Crown Jewels, including crowns, sceptres and other symbols of power and wealth. These treasures are kept in the castle's basement, in an environment that enhances its beauty and historical value.
One of the highlights of the visit is the Knights' Hall, a majestic room decorated with tapestries and portraits of Danish monarchs. The royal thrones, used during coronation ceremonies, are also located here. The room offers a fascinating insight into court life and the traditions of the Danish monarchy.
The gardens surrounding the castle, known as Kongens Have (King's Garden), are among the oldest and most beautiful in Copenhagen. With their green lawns, flower beds and picnic areas, the gardens are a popular place for locals and tourists looking for a moment of relaxation and tranquility.
Rosenborg Castle is open to the public all year round and offers guided tours that allow you to explore its rooms and collections in detail. It is advisable to buy tickets online in advance, especially during busy periods.
Visiting the castle is a must-see for anyone in Copenhagen. This architectural gem not only tells the story of Denmark, but also offers a unique insight into the life and traditions of the Danish royal family. If you have the opportunity, don’t miss the chance to explore this fascinating castle and its treasures.

Here's where the castle is located:
The Little Mermaid statue is a 1.25 m tall, 175 kg heavy bronze sculpture located at the entrance to the harbour of Copenhagen and is one of the symbols of the Danish capital. It depicts the main character, the Little Mermaid, from one of Hans Christian Andersen's most famous fairy tales, The Little Mermaid. The statue was commissioned in 1909 by Carl Jacobsen, son of the founder of Carlsberg, who had been fascinated by Hans Beck's adaptation of the fairy tale into a ballet. It was created by the sculptor Edvard Eriksen (1876-1959) and first shown to the public on 23 August 1913. Eriksen used his wife Eline as a model.
