The porticos and the Basilica of Santo Stefano in via Venti. When I walk along via Venti Settembre in Genoa, passing under the porticos on the sea side (let's say) the view always takes in the beautiful Basilica of Santo Stefano and the porticos that "support" it. The charm of the two-tone style perhaps embellishes the view.

The church of Santo Stefano (or abbey of Santo Stefano) is one of the most famous Christian places of worship in Genoa, and its parish community is part of the Vicariate of Carignano – Foce of the archdiocese of Genoa. Situated on a hill overlooking the central Via XX Settembre, it was one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture in the Ligurian capital. Christopher Columbus was baptized in this church and it is believed that the young Balilla was also baptized. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

An unusual view of Lavagna for me. Walking along via Emanuele Pessagno I saw this glimpse of the beautiful houses of via Dante Alighieri but from the back. You can also see the bell towers of the Basilica of Santo Stefano.

A glimpse of an alley in Lavagna. If I'm not mistaken, these are the porticos of Via Dante Alighieri, the street that passes in front of the Basilica of Santo Stefano, very characteristic because the floor is made of slate.

The large churchyard of Santo Stefano in Lavagna. The churchyard of the Basilica of Santo Stefano in Lavagna is famous for its beautiful risseu, mosaics made from black and white pebbles arranged in geometric patterns. The basilica itself, located in the town of Lavagna in Liguria, is an imposing structure that dominates the town and the surrounding sea. The Basilica of Santo Stefano in Lavagna has a fascinating history that dates back many centuries. The first mention of a religious building on the site dates back to the 6th century, although some sources suggest it may be even older. Originally, there was a signal tower for sailors on the site, next to which the first church was built. Over the centuries, the basilica has undergone numerous changes and restorations. In 1060, it was elevated to a collegiate church and became an important ecclesiastical center under the protection of the Holy See of Rome. The noble Fieschi family, who dominated the region, always had a special regard for the church, considering it a religious reference point of their dominion. The current structure of the basilica was completed in 1668, with the consecration taking place in 1703. In 1921, Pope Benedict XV elevated the church to the rank of minor basilica. The basilica is also known for its richly decorated interior and for the churchyard with the characteristic black and white pebble mosaics, typical of the Ligurian tradition.

This place is a meeting point between modern architecture and the centuries-old history of the city. The porticos of Via XX Settembre are a symbol of elegance and functionality. Built in the 19th century, the porticos provide shelter and shade to pedestrians, allowing them to stroll along the street in any weather condition. The imposing columns and neoclassical arches create an atmosphere of grandeur and refinement. Under the porticos, there are luxury boutiques, cafés and historic shops that add to the charm of this iconic street. Located in the heart of Via XX Settembre, the Basilica of Santo Stefano is an architectural jewel that dates back to the 5th century. The church is a remarkable example of Genoese Romanesque architecture, with its simple yet elegant façade and interior rich in history and art. The churchyard of the church of Santo Stefano in Lavagna. The village of Lavagna has its beautiful main church, Santo Stefano, with the splendid churchyard that I present to you in this post. The church is framed by the colored houses on one side, the paving of rounded stones with green grass and (in the photo you can only see it minimally) the Brignardello portico.

Via Dante Alighieri in Lavagna seen from the roof of the Porticato Brignardello. I really like taking photos in the area of the Basilica of Santo Stefano in Lavagna. In addition to the splendid churchyard (which I have photographed many times) and the beautiful Brignardello portico, in this shot I photographed the street that passes through the square, via Dante Alighieri, from the terrace that is built above the portico itself. A new point of view!
