The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Soviore above Monterosso al Mare.
Some time ago, while I was at home, I decided to take a nice walk and so I headed (with my wife Dao) to the Cinque Terre. Unfortunately the classic Sentiero Azzurro was closed (and recently I had intelligently not checked on the very up-to-date website of the Park) and so we had to reinvent a route using the large network of trails in the area.
We set off on the path that from Monterosso al Mare passes by this splendid sanctuary and then descends to Vernazza.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Soviore is truly splendid (and photogenic) and repays the effort of the walk to get there.

The sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Soviore is a Catholic place of worship located in the municipality of Monterosso al Mare, along the provincial road 38, in the province of La Spezia. The religious building is located within the Cinque Terre National Park along the slopes of Mount Soviore (464 m above sea level) among woods and terraced fields near the road between the municipalities of Monterosso al Mare and Levanto. The church is the seat of the parish of the same name of the Vicariate of the Riviera of the diocese of La Spezia-Sarzana-Brugnato, of which the Madonna di Soviore has been the patron saint since 11 May 1974. The main holidays are on 15 August (the feast of the Assumption of Mary) and the Sunday after 8 September.

One of my favorite trails also because I can set off on foot from my house and do the tour in a couple of hours at a leisurely pace.
And the view, of Sestri Levante but also of Riva Trigoso, is unparalleled.
The Mandrella trail or, as it is better known, Punta Manara.

In addition to being a beautiful walk, it offers an unparalleled view of Sestri Levante and especially of the Baia del Silenzio.

Il portico devozione di San Luca a Bologna.
E’ il portico più lungo al mondo e si trova a Bologna. Congiunge, in una via pedonale e protetta dalla pioggia, il centro città con il santuario della Madonna di San Luca.
Io l’ho percorso in discesa prendendo un taxi fino al santuario e scendendo i tre e passa chilometri a piedi.
Una bella passeggiata che si deve assolutamente fare se si è a Bologna per qualche giorno; se non altro per smaltire un pochino di quello che si è pappato nelle varie osterie cittadine!

La via che, inerpicandosi per il colle della Guardia, porta al santuario, fu inizialmente ciottolata nel 1589 dal governo cittadino. L’abitudine dei pellegrini di appendere immagini con i Misteri del Rosario agli alberi lungo il percorso, indusse nel 1640 la vicaria Olimpia Boccaferri ad iniziare la costruzione di 15 cappelle.

I had been meaning to walk the path from Sestri Levante to Lavagna, passing by the church of Santa Giulia, for some time.
I filled this gap last spring and I must say that it was a beautiful walk immersed in olive trees and slate.
In the photo, a shot of the downhill part towards Lavagna.

Il canyon della Necropoli di Pantalica in Sicilia.
Oltre ad essere un luogo già abitato millenni fa, Pantalica, ed importantissimo per le tombe scavate nella roccia è anche un posto splendido per fare un po’ di trekking attraversando più volte il ruscello (in questa stagione ma ho idea che quando comincino le piogge facilmente si possa trasformare forse anche in un bel torrentello) che ne ha scavato il canyon.
La natura, poco contaminata, la fa da padrone: piante molto verdi e acqua veramente trasparente!
Vi consiglio, se siete nei pressi di Siracusa, di visitare questo luogo.

Costituisce uno dei più importanti luoghi protostorici siciliani, utile per comprendere il momento di passaggio dall’età del bronzo all’età del ferro nell’isola. Viene poeticamente, ma non scientificamente, identificata con l’antica Hybla, un regno siculo che dal XIII all’VIII sec a.C. si estendeva dalla valle dell’Anapo a Siracusa.
Nel 2005 il sito è stato insignito, insieme con la città di Siracusa, del titolo di Patrimonio dell’umanità da parte dell’UNESCO per l’alto profilo storico, archeologico, speleologico e paesaggistico.

The ridge to the east from Punta Baffe

The ridge to the east from Punta Baffe.
Several months ago I took this beautiful walk along the path that goes from Riva Trigoso to Punta Baffe. Once I reached the tower I decided to return by climbing a little more and then passing by Villa Manierta.
When I reached the highest point of my route I took this beautiful photo of the first ridge and all those that stand out to the east.
The last one could be that of Punta Mesco.

Le casette accovacciate di Manarola

Le casette accovacciate di Manarola.
Più o meno una volta l’anno mi sposto alle Cinque Terre per fare un po’ di trekking sui bellissimi sentieri della zona.
A dire la verità, tra maggio e giugno mi è un pochino scappata di mano la situazione e facevo un paio di belle e lunghe camminate a settimana.
Per la prima volta sono riuscito a fare il pezzo che da Corniglia va a Manarola passando da Volastra.
Decisamente molto duro ma lo sforzo viene ripagato dalla splendida vista su Manarola e i vigneti che la circondano.

Il crinale di Monasteroli

Il crinale di Monasteroli.
Di solito quando si vede una foto di Monasteroli si vede la scalinata a picco sul mare che dall’alto del sentiero porta fino al mare.
Dal momento che mi sentivo a disagio a fotografare in quel punto (non soffro di vertigini ma un pochino mi infastidiva l’altezza) vi posto una foto delle case che poi formano il piccolo borgo.
Se notate poi la scalinata prosegue fino al mare e allo scoglio chiamato Scoglio Montonaio.

The trail to the Sanctuary of Montallegro in Rapallo.
In recent weeks, like many others, I have become a lover of trekking.
I am lucky that in my area, the Ligurian Tigullio, there are many beautiful trails to hike.
So last week I went, together with some friends, to do the one that starts from Chiavari, passes by the Sanctuary of Grazie, goes to the Sanctuary of Montallegro and then ends in Rapallo.
A really nice ride of about 15 kilometers with some stretches (especially the initial one) that are really tough.
I'll leave you just a couple of photos here: the first is of the road that goes from Montallegro to Rapallo and that I took downhill; the second is of one of the many stretches of the trail.
