The Bay of Silence in Sestri Levante seen from the churchyard of the Capuchin friars' convent on 9 May 2023.
The splendid bay that is the symbol of my town is certainly one of my favourite subjects.
When last May I wanted to do some tests with my old ef lens, I went all the way to the churchyard of the Capuchin friary, one of the best places to photograph the Bay.
Even the swimming pool of the Hotel Helvetia has its charm!

L’interno della chiesa dei Cappuccini a Sestri Levante.
Luogo preferito dai turisti per fotografare la Baia del Silenzio, il complesso dei Frati Cappuccini ha anche, e soprattutto, una bella chiesetta di cui questo e’ l’interno con l’altare maggiore e la statua lignea della Madonna risalente al 1600.

The statue of the Immaculate Madonna in the Capuchin church in Sestri Levante.
The little church of the Capuchin Friars' convent, a favorite spot for almost everyone who wants to photograph the Bay of Silence from above, houses a beautiful wooden statue of the Madonna.
Looking for some information on the statue, which is placed right on the High Altar of the church, I discovered that it is from the 17th century but nothing else.

Il centro di Sestri Levante visto da lontano.
Una immagine un poco inedita su questo sito della mia cittadina.
Con il teleobiettivo, dalle alture di Sant’Anna, puntando il centro di Sestrisi vedono solamente i palazzi più alti o quelli posti in alto.
Si vedono molto bene il complesso dei Padri Cappuccini, l’hotel Villa Balbi ed il Nettuno, il campanile della chiesa di San Pietro in Vincoli e alcune case.

La Baia del Silenzio fotografata dal belvedere della terrazza della chiesa dei Cappuccini.
A quasi sei mesi da quando ho scattato questa foto mi viene un pochino di malinconia a pensare alla fine dell’estate. Voi che siete a Sestri ora (io dovrei essere ai Caraibi in questo momento) sicuramente non vedrete l’ora che ricomincino le giornate soleggiate e calde.
Oppure mi sbaglio?

La salita per i Cappuccini a Sestri Levante.
Una immagine insolita di un punto invece molto frequentato dai turisti in visita a Sestri Levante.
Questa infatti è la salita che conduce al convento dei Cappuccini o meglio al sagrato della chiesa di questo convento dal quale si possono scattare le classiche foto della Baia del Silenzio.

L’ordine dei Cappuccini nacque intorno al 1520 circa, quando il frate francescano osservante Matteo da Bascio — ordinato sacerdote nella regione delle Marche, Italia — si convinse che lo stile di vita condotto dai francescani del suo tempo non era quello che san Francesco aveva immaginato. Egli desiderava ritornare allo stile di vita originario in solitudine e penitenza come praticato dal fondatore del suo ordine.

La Cappuccina, una villa di Sestri Levante.
Appena dopo la salitina che porta al convento dei Cappuccini, sulla strada che dalla Baia del Silenzio porta alle villette in altura, c’e’ l’accesso a questa Villa.

Un drago blu come decorazione.
Sul finire dell’estate avevo scattato diverse foto che ho programmato per errore pubblicate piano piano quando sarò via.
Questa è una di quelle.
Sono sulla strada che si inerpica sopra il convento dei Cappuccini, sopra la Baia del Silenzio.
Dal muro di una delle tante ville spuntava questo drago blu. E’ uno scolmatore (almeno credo) per l’acqua piovana ma molto particolare… in più poi c’erano sullo sfondo quei fiorellini, anch’essi blu, che facevano pandan!

Ingresso chiesa dei Cappuccini.
Uno dei luoghi dove di più amo andare per scattare belle foto alla Baia del Silenzio è sicuramente sul sagrato della chiesa dei Cappuccini.
Questo nella foto è l’ingresso, che credo sia piuttosto moderno, della chiesa del loro convento.
Un edificio semplice ma situato in uno dei punti più belli della nostra Sestri Levante.
