A basket with almost all the spices used in Vietnam.
This could almost be the essence (or the majority of it) of the famous Vietnamese cuisine.
This was a street vendor's basket. In Vietnam, in fact, at every corner and every ten meters, there is someone selling something to take home or to eat on the spot.
Street food par excellence, I would say!
From left, clockwise, ginger, garlic, onion, red chili pepper, lime; in the center, garlic again but peeled.
In almost all the dishes there is at least one if not more of these spices.
In particular, I would say garlic and chili pepper: almost all the dishes, unless expressly requested at the time of ordering, are spicy and quite a bit.
