An excellent lobster enjoyed at the restaurant La Ruota in Moneglia.
Some time ago I was invited to eat at a nice restaurant in Moneglia, La Ruota.
The view of the village and the coast that could be enjoyed from the room was just the backdrop to the delicious food we enjoyed.
This was a nice dish with plenty of lobster!

The lobster, also known as the European lobster and by the local names of Elephant Sea, Lupicante, Sea Wolf, is a decapod crustacean belonging to the Nephropidae family. Bluish in color, with yellow spots on the back and a light belly, it has two pairs of antennae, one long and one short, and 8 locomotory legs, in addition to 2 chelated, one larger and one smaller, to better perform different tasks.

Un’abbondanza di chele di astice bollite.
Ogni tanto, a menù, sulla nave ci sono le chele di astice, uno dei miei piatti preferiti.
Che scorpacciata che mi farei!

L’astice ha due chele di struttura diversa: la più grossa e pesante serve a rompere il guscio delle prede, mentre quella più dentellata serve ad estrarla da quest’ultimo; queste formidabili armi fungono anche da difesa da voraci predatori, come il pesce lupo.

Uno degli abitanti dei mari più apprezzati è l’astice.
Qui, fotografati a San Francisco in uno dei tanti ristorantini vicino al porto.
Da notare gli elastici per tenere ferme le chele.

L’astice americano (Homarus americanus H. Milne-Edwards, 1837), è un crostaceo della famiglia dei Nefropidi. È strettamente imparentato con l’astice europeo (Homarus gammarus). Vive nelle acque temperate e fredde dell’America settentrionale. Nonostante sia una specie tipica solitamente delle acque poco profonde, fino a 50 m di profondità, si può trovare anche a 700. Predilige le zone con fondali rocciosi.

Seafood for lunch at the Bergen market.
It really wasn't planned but a quick trip to the Bergen market (despite the sky-high prices) is always nice.
Salmon and cod skewers, shrimp skewer, king crab claw and side dish. With beer!
It's ok!
