The plaque of the alleged baptism of Columbus

The plaque commemorating the alleged baptism of Christopher Columbus in Genoa.
Some time ago now, I visited the splendid church of Santo Stefano (the one just under the Monumental Bridge) which dominates the central Via XX Settembre.
In the crypt of the church, near the baptismal font, there is this plaque commemorating the alleged baptism of Christopher Columbus which took place in this very church.

Christophorus Columbus Genuensis
novi orbis repertor
A.D.MCCCCLI ante mensem octubris elapsum
prope hanc ecclesiam
in contrata olivellae natus
eius patre dominico ibi commorante
ad custodiam portae tuttisque
dicti loci deputato
in huius abbatie fonte baptesimatis
sua christiana fides
primim fundamentum habuit.

A.D. MCMXCII MARTINUS MACCIO’ ABBAS PUSUIT

The crypt of the church of Santo Stefano in Genoa

The ancient crypt of the ancient church of Santo Stefano in Genoa.
Last year, right around Christmas time, I managed (almost by chance) to find out about the possibility of visiting some beautiful churches in Genoa with the same organization as the Rolli Days.
One of the churches I saw, and whose crypt I've posted two photos of below, is the beautiful church of Santo Stefano that dominates Via Venti Settembre just near the Ponte Monumentale.
One of the most famous in the city where it is said Christopher Columbus was even baptized.

This is the link that, I believe, will be active shortly before the new event: visitgenoa.it/chiesedeirolli.

The Civic Tower in the centre of Rapallo

La Torre Civica di Rapallo

The Civic Tower in the centre of Rapallo.
A view of Rapallo from the descent of the Montallegro path with the imposing Civic Tower (1443) annexed to the Church of Santo Stefano in the centre.
I don't think I've ever noticed this tower erected in the centre of an area that also houses the building of the Confraternita dei Bianchi.

Here is where the tower and the church are located:

The largest and most important of the ancient towers of the city, the Civic Tower is a structural work from 1473. According to historical sources, its construction was commissioned by the noble citizens to symbolize peace among the inhabitants of the village after a century shaken by internal and power struggles between the major city factions of the medieval era.
