St. Peter's Square in the Vatican in Rome

La celebre piazza San Pietro nella città del Vaticano a Roma

The famous St. Peter's Square in the Vatican City in Rome.
One of the monuments that you can't miss visiting in the Eternal City is definitely St. Peter's Square, a symbol of Christianity in the world.
I didn't remember there being so many tourists visiting... and to think that the last time I was there I even climbed to the top of the dome and I don't remember waiting in line that long.

The very famous square, a notable example of Baroque architecture and urban planning, is dedicated to the saint of the same name and is a daily meeting point for thousands of Catholic faithful from all over the world.
The space of the square is made up of two parts: the first is shaped like an inverted trapezium whose longest side corresponds to the façade with specific perspective motivations (to cancel the great distance between the square and the basilica) and the second, larger, oval-shaped part with the Egyptian obelisk in the centre.

Lo splendido Palazzo Ducale in piazza San Marco a Venezia

The splendid Doge's Palace in St. Mark's Square in Venice.
When walking around Venice, you cannot help but come to St. Mark's Square and, consequently, also see the palace that was once that of the Doge.
With its unmistakable style, it is one of the symbols of the lagoon city.

The Doge's Palace is built on three wings around the sides of a large central porticoed courtyard, the fourth side of which is made up of the lateral body of the Basilica Marciana, an ancient palatine chapel. The entire building rests, as in the case of any other Venetian building, on a raft made of larch trunks, which in turn supports an important base in Istrian stone.

La Corte Ducale del Castello Sforzesco di Milano

The Ducal Court of the Sforza Castle in Milan.
Even though it is a couple of hours by train from where I live, I have not been to Milan as a tourist that many times.
The last one, however, I walked around (and photographed) a lot.
In this image there is the Ducal Court of the castle with the famous colonnade called the Portico dell’Elefante.

The court has a U-shape and occupies the northern area of the castle. It was built and decorated in the second half of the fifteenth century mainly by Galeazzo Maria Sforza, who came to reside here from his marriage to Bona in 1468 until his death, and by Ludovico il Moro who resided here during the entire twenty years of his dukedom.

The colonnade for Villa Arpe for Santa Vittoria

Colonnato per Villa Arpe per Santa Vittoria

The colonnade for Villa Arpe for Santa Vittoria.
I have always been fascinated by this little path that leads from the road along the Gromolo stream to those little houses that I believe are called Villa Arpe.
I wonder how beautiful it was 50 years ago, everything well kept.
In the second photo you can see the houses better and what seems to be a small chapel or perhaps a burial building of some local family.
