Arches and columns of Santa Maria in Castello

Archi e colonne di un chiostro di Santa Maria in Castello a Genova

Arches and columns of a cloister of Santa Maria in Castello in Genoa.
There are many corners of this religious complex in the historic center of Genoa.
I like the columns and arches of the cloisters and Santa Maria in Castello has three of them.

The third cloister, smaller than the previous ones, was built between 1492 and 1513. Today it is incorporated into a university residence, so it cannot be visited.

La torre del Palazzo Re Enzo a Bologna

The tower of Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna.
One of the most beautiful and well-known buildings in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna is the one called Re Enzo.
This is its beautiful tower which, like many buildings in the Emilian city, is made of red bricks.

It was built between 1244 and 1246 at the behest of the podestà Filippo Ugoni as an extension of the municipal buildings of the Palazzo del Podestà (together with the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo) and for this reason called Palatium Novum, but its historical events have always linked it to the figure of King Enzo of Sardinia.

The columns of the cloister of the Seven Churches in Bologna.
One of the monuments to visit in Bologna is certainly the Basilica of Santo Stefano commonly called the Seven Churches since, over the centuries, seven different churches were built in this place.
Entering it (free entry) you can admire a splendid cloister of which, in this post, you can see the columns on the second floor.

The first Romanesque part (1198) was followed by the Gothic part with black and white banded facing which dates back to the 13th century and was built by the Genoese, probably between 1256 and 1270.

The colonnade for Villa Arpe for Santa Vittoria

Colonnato per Villa Arpe per Santa Vittoria

The colonnade for Villa Arpe for Santa Vittoria.
I have always been fascinated by this little path that leads from the road along the Gromolo stream to those little houses that I believe are called Villa Arpe.
I wonder how beautiful it was 50 years ago, everything well kept.
In the second photo you can see the houses better and what seems to be a small chapel or perhaps a burial building of some local family.

The triple lancet windows of the Abbey of San Fruttuoso in Camogli.
Leaving the splendid complex of San Fruttuoso, located in one of the small inlets that the coast of Eastern Liguria offers to visitors, I photographed the detail of the windows of the building.
Today they are closed with glass but maintain all the charm and splendor of the past.
