Savonarola e il castello Este.
Uno degli scatti più classici a Ferrara è la statua di Savonarola con sullo sfondo il castello Estense.
Ovviamente non mi sono potuto esimere anch’io.

Girolamo Maria Francesco Matteo Savonarola (Ferrara, 21 settembre 1452 – Firenze, 23 maggio 1498) è stato un religioso, politico e predicatore italiano. Appartenente all’ordine dei frati domenicani O.P., profetizzò sciagure per Firenze e per l’Italia propugnando un modello teocratico per la Repubblica fiorentina instauratasi dopo la cacciata dei Medici.

Tagliere di salumi a Ferrara.
Un bellissimo tagliere di salumi mangiato in quel di Ferrara, qualche mese orsono.
La mitica mortadella, la pancetta, il culatello e il salame. E per finire il piatto delle piadine fatte in casa.
Dimenticavo: il tutto gustato al ristorante Ostinato.

Un gustoso piatto di cappellacci ferraresi ripieni di zucca

Un gustoso piatto di cappellacci ferraresi ripieni di zucca.
Uno dei capisaldi della cucina romagnola e soprattutto di Ferrara sono i cappellacci.
Questo tipo di pasta ripiena di zucca violina condita con ragù di carne (oppure con burro e salvia) sono una prelibatezza della cucina popolare italiana.
Qualche mese fa sono stato a Ferrara e non mi sono potuto esimere dal prenderne un piatto al ristorante Ostinato.

Il termine Cappellaccio o il suo equivalente dialettale ferrarese, Caplaz, si riferisce alla forma simile ad un cappello di paglia tipico dei contadini del secolo scorso. Secondo altre fonti è invece un maggiorativo-dispregiativo dei simili cappelletti, richiamandone le maggiori dimensioni, la forma più rozza e, probabilmente, le minori proprietà nutrizionali.

The renowned and excellent salami from Ferrara

The renowned and excellent salama da sugo of Ferrara.
If cappellacci are the first dish of Ferrara, salama da sugo is among the second courses.
A very tasty pork sausage, perhaps even too tasty, accompanied by an inevitable mashed potatoes.
Obviously eaten in Ferrara in the restaurant Ostinato.

It is prepared by grinding various parts of the pig such as the neck, cheek, lean pulp from the trimming of the thigh, intended for the production of ham and the shoulder, a small percentage of tongue and liver is added, to which, in the contemporary recipe, salt, pepper and nutmeg are added.

La Cattedrale di Ferrara

La Cattedrale di Ferrara.
Uno dei simboli fi Ferrara è la sua Cattedrale in centro.
Questa foto, scattata in notturna, forse non rende merito alla sua bellezza. A dire il vero tutta la piazza è splendida.

Still on the south side, there is the Renaissance bell tower made of brick and covered in limestone (white and red from Verona); the columns on the north and south sides are in grey limestone from Noriglio, the plinth of the columns is in Istrian stone, the capitals of the columns are in prun stone and some coats of arms on the south and west sides are in soft stone from Vicenza.

The Cathedral Square in the beautiful Ferrara

The Cathedral Square in the beautiful Ferrara, the city of the Este family.
Last weekend I went to Ferrara to follow my beloved Sampdoria and what better occasion to take a tour and take photos of the beautiful town.
This is one of the main squares of the city: the square where the Cathedral is located and in this photo you can see its bell tower.
