Galician octopus prepared at home.
I can't say if I prefer octopus prepared Genoese style or Galician style.
In these photos it was Spanish style so with paprika (while the Ligurian style one does not have this spice but lemon and olives).
One of my favorite dishes without a doubt.
I have already described the recipe in another nice post!

Octopus is a very popular mollusc in professional and sport fishing. Fishing techniques are traditional and consist of using a bait called pulcina, which is sometimes used together with crabs and fish. Sometimes fresh octopus is prepared using the curling technique directly on the rocks or in special machines that allow it to be tasted raw. The curled octopus has tentacles in the shape of “curls”, dilated suckers and a characteristic “crunchy” consistency.

Galician-style octopus, the recipe.
One of the octopus dishes that I like to taste the most is boiled octopus prepared Galician-style, a typical Spanish dish. It is very quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients for two people:
– one octopus
– 2/3 potatoes
– extra virgin olive oil
– coarse salt
– paprika

Preparation:
First, boil the potatoes; take a couple of potatoes (preferably three that are not too large), rinse them well under running water and cook them, with the peel, in a saucepan for half an hour. To know when they are ready, just pierce them with a knife to test their softness.
At the same time, cook the octopus. To tell the truth, in my trusted supermarket, I found some very good pre-cooked octopus at a convenient price. But if you buy frozen or fresh octopus, you will have to boil it for a good while, from an hour to two in lightly salted water.

Once the potatoes and octopus are cooked, cut the potatoes into slices and the octopus (aesthetically speaking, it is better with only the tentacles) into slices too.

Arrange the potatoes on the bottom, with the octopus on top; drizzle with plenty of olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt and paprika powder.

I heat everything slightly in the microwave because I like the dish slightly warm.

And the dish is ready to photograph and eat!

Il polpo alla Gallega gustato in Spagna.
Uno dei miei piatti preferiti quando sono in Spagna è questo. Tanta paprica ed olio di oliva.
Leggero (ma se si esagera nemmeno poi cosi tanto), delicato e gustoso.
Sono solo indeciso se mi piace di più alla Galiziana oppure alla plancia (alla griglia).

Octopus Galician style at home.
There are already several posts about octopus Spanish style. This time it is different because the dish was made at my house.
First I boiled the octopus (a nice fresh octopus); separately I also boiled a potato. Then I cut everything into slices, moistened with local olive oil and sprinkled with paprika and salt (coarse salt would have been needed but I used fine salt).
And there you have it.

Of course, that's exactly what I ate that day at the little market in Menorca.

The dish is the one already photographed and described in other posts and with other images. And here in fact there was the novelty, for me it was the first time, in seeing the pieces of octopus and the pieces of potatoes arranged on the slices of bread (for tapas).

Tentacle of octopus Galician style eaten in Ibiza.
This is a nice tentacle of octopus Galician style eaten a few weeks ago in Ibiza.
It was perhaps not the best I have ever eaten but we were in a dream restaurant.
The table, in fact, was 10 meters from the sea and the location alone was worth the price (almost as salty as the dish in question) paid at the end.
The dish is then the typical one, and that I have already posted several times, where the octopus (boiled) is placed on potatoes (also boiled) and olive oil. All with a generous sprinkling of paprika (sometimes very spicy).

Galician octopus in Ibiza.
One of my favorite dishes is Galician octopus. If I'm in Spain and I have to eat out I always order it.
Boiled octopus placed on a bed of potatoes (also boiled). Lots of olive oil and equally lots of paprika and salt. I like it almost as much as liguria-style octopus.

An excellent dish and a photo, I think, equally excellent: Galician octopus enjoyed in the covered market halfway down the Rambla in Barcelona. First time I've been there and first time I've tasted octopus prepared in this way.

Another typical Spanish dish is octopus a la gallega (that is, Galician style).
I have to say that it is really good.
In this dish, however, there were no classic boiled potatoes that normally host the octopus.
