Mare da sogno: Lambert Bay a Tortola.
Se cercate una spiaggia nell’isola di Tortola, tranquilla e spettacolare, allora dovete venire qui.
Vi ho già postato alcune foto di questo luogo spettacolo.
C’è anche un bel resort (anzi c’è solo quello) e per poter andare in spiaggia bisogna entrarvi (gratuitamente).
State attenti alle onde però perché ci hanno detto che il mare è sempre un poco mosso qui.

Local tradition says that Christopher Columbus named the island Tórtola, after the Italian word for turtle dove. In fact, Columbus named the island “Santa Ana.” A Dutch settler named it Ter Tholen, after a coastal town in the Netherlands.

Fiorellini a Lambert Bay

Fiorellini a Lambert Bay.
Dei piccoli fiori bianchi e viola che ho trovato in questa bella spiaggia caraibica.
Dovrebbero appartenere and una pianta di mangrovia che era proprio nella sabbia a una decina di metri dall’acqua del mare.
Un bel benvenuto alla spiaggia.

La mangrovia è una formazione vegetale (o forestale), costituita da piante prevalentemente legnose, che si sviluppa sui litorali bassi delle coste marine tropicali, in particolare nella fascia periodicamente sommersa dalla marea. Il WWF considera la mangrovia come un bioma, una delle quattordici maggiori tipologie di habitat in cui viene suddiviso il globo terrestre.

Un pellicano sulla spiaggia di Lambert Bay.
Uno dei simboli dei caraibi, oltre ovviamente alle spiagge, è il pellicano, uccello che spesso abita le coste delle piccole isole.
Questa foto infatti, l’ho scattata in una spiaggia di Tortola, e questo animale sembrava quasi farsi avvicinare per scattare la foto.
Purtroppo non avevo con me il teleobiettivo e dovete accontentarvi di una immagine un pochino lontana.

Dream beaches: Lambert Bay in Tortola.
One of the most beautiful and pristine beaches on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands of the Caribbean.
There is only one splendid resort on this very natural and rarely visited beach. We understood that the sea is often rough in this small bay and in fact there are several warning signs for swimming.
Obviously they did not stop us and we enjoyed a couple of hours of relaxation in the Caribbean sun.

Conchiglia e sabbia a Lambert Bay

Conchiglia e sabbia a Lambert Bay.
Una conchiglietta adagiata sulla sabbia creata anch’essa da minuscoli frammenti di altre conchiglie.
Questa e’ la composizione di molte spiagge tropicali che si formano dal rompersi di conchiglie, dai coralli rotti e mangiati dai pesci e dal calcare di cui sono composte alcune isole piu’ grandi.
Questa era la sabbia di una delle spiagge (Lambert Bay) di Tortola nelle Virgin British Islands.

Nei Molluschi la conchiglia ha forma varia a seconda delle Classi. È composta da costituenti inorganici come il carbonato di calcio (CaCO3) o il fosfato di calcio (Ca3(PO4)2) che gli animali estraggono dall’acqua di mare e che vengono integrati da sostanze organiche (solitamente un insieme di proteine complesse secrete dal mantello).
