Anfiteatro romano di Lecce

The Roman amphitheater in the center of Lecce.
Lecce was a surprise for me. In the center of the old city is this splendid amphitheater from the first-second century AD.

Here's where the theater is located:

The Roman amphitheatre, together with the theatre, is the most expressive monument of the importance achieved by Lupiae, the Roman ancestor of Lecce, between the 1st and 2nd century AD.
The dating of the monument is still a matter of discussion and oscillates between the Augustan age and the Trajan-Hadrianic age.
