Uno dei santuari più noti e amati da tutti i genovesi è quello dedicato alla Madonna della Guardia.
Questo è il tempietto, all’interno della chiesa, che ospita la statua della Vergine.

Some time ago I went for a nice visit to the Santuario della Guardia, just behind Genoa.
The church has a simple and not very ostentatious appearance but on the vault and in the dome the decorations are still very beautiful and in front the coat of arms of Genoa stands out.

The facade of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Guard above Genoa.
The Sanctuary of the Guard has always been one of the places of worship most loved by the Genoese.
Despite being so important, its simplicity is surprising, both externally and internally. In fact, you will not find impressive gold and frescoes or statues and lace.
You go to the Guard to pray or to give thanks, not to be impressed by aesthetics!

The Newsstand in Vico San Pietro della Porta in Genoa.
There are many newsstands (which are not only small shops that sell newspapers but also small structures that house sacred images or statues) in the alleys of Genoa.
Every time I walk, armed with a camera, in the historic center I immortalize one that I had probably never seen before.
This is in a beautiful corner of Vico San Pietro, a few steps from Piazza Banchi.

Il Santuario della Guardia fotografato dal Forte Diamante.
Qualche tempo fa ormai ho fatto il sentiero che porta fino a Forte Diamante e da lì, in attesa di fare una visita vera e propria, ho immortalato il Santuario della Guardia che era proprio sul monte di fronte.
Maestoso e dominante tutta Genova a lui chiedono aiuto i fedeli genovesi da secoli.
