The Palazzo della Mercanzia in Bologna, also known as the Loggia dei Mercanti or Palazzo del Carrobbio, overlooks the square of the same name. From the end of the 14th century to the end of the 18th century, it was the seat of the Universitas mercatorum (Merchants’ Forum) and of some Corporations. From 1797, with the French occupation, it became the seat of the Chamber of Commerce.

The beautiful circular brick tower that dominates the Genoese neighborhood of Quelli.
Before taking this photo I didn't know it at all.

The tower dominates the heights of the Bisagno valley, and was built to compensate for the lack of adequate defense of Fort Quezzi along the northern ridge of the mountain, which would have provided an easy starting point for enemy troops in a possible attack on the fort itself. The Sardinian Engineers worked hard to reinforce that side of the mountain, with the construction of a small circular “support” structure.

One of the most beautiful and well-known buildings in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna is the one called Re Enzo.
This is its beautiful tower which, like many buildings in the Emilian city, is made of red bricks.

It was built between 1244 and 1246 at the behest of the podestà Filippo Ugoni as an extension of the municipal buildings of the Palazzo del Podestà (together with the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo) and for this reason called Palatium Novum, but its historical events have always linked it to the figure of King Enzo of Sardinia.

La Torre Grimaldina a Genova.
Dall’alto di castelletto si ha una vista incredibile su tutta Genova e scattare foto, quando si va verso il tramonto, è uno spettacolo.
In questo caso il soggetto principale e più evidente è la bella Torre Grimaldina che fa parte del complesso di Palazzo Ducale, le cui campane furono fuse per realizzare dei cannoni.

La torre è composta da sette piani, i quattro inferiori compresi all’interno di palazzo Fieschi mentre i tre superiori si innalzano al di sopra del palazzo. Il primo piano presenta il bugnato che ricopre tutto il livello inferiore del palazzo Fieschi e una recente finestra rettangolare.

A creuza that leads to Boccadasse, the famous Genoese village.
To go down to the village of Boccadasse you have to go down some narrow and steep brick streets, very typical of Liguria, which are called creuze.
This is one of these (to be precise the name is via Aurora) and from the opposite promenade of Corso Italia it goes down to the village's little beach.

Boccadasse (Boca d’azë or Bocadâze in Genoese) is an ancient seaside village in the city of Genoa, which is part of the Albaro district. In the current administrative division of the municipality of Genoa it is therefore included in the Municipio VIII – Medio Levante, which in addition to Albaro also includes the Foce and San Martino districts.

Tellaro is the easternmost hamlet of the municipality of Lerici, in the province of La Spezia. It has been reviewed as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The town is a small seaside village, perched on a cliff overlooking the Gulf of La Spezia. A destination for many Italian and foreign artists, Mario Soldati found a home here during the long years of his old age.

Walking along the splendid and famous Anita Garibaldi promenade, just before arriving in Nervi, you will find this beautiful brick watchtower.
An inevitable subject for almost all walkers and tourists!

Where is the tower located:

The sixteenth-century tower that today houses some associations (the Naval League and the Alpine troops of the neighborhood) was instead known as the “hay tower,” due to the fuel used to produce smoke signals and communicate sightings of pirates and enemies to the entire coast.

Colombo Street in Sestri Levante

Corso Colombo a Sestri Levante

Corso Colombo a Sestri Levante.
Una delle vie centrali della mia cittadina con lo splendido Palazzo Fascie-Rossi e la sua torre in mattoni rossi.
Una via molto trafficata, specialmente la mattina, anche perché è la più vicina al centro storico. Corso Colombo infatti prosegue in via XXV Aprile cioè il carruggio!
Non è la prima volta che pubblico una foto di questa via di Sestri Levante ma non è che ho sempre a disposizione foto da paesi esotici o posti visitati da turista.
La mia casa è Sestri e devo per forza privilegiarla sempre, anche perché ne sono orgoglioso.

Una creuza sull’Isola di Sestri Levante.
Una viuzza tipica della Liguria, una creuza appunto, fatta di mattoni al centro e pietre rotonde ai lati.
Qui siamo sull’Isola di Sestri (che poi è una Penisola) e precisamente in via Cittadella forse la meno nota delle tra stradine che salgono fino ai Castelli di Sestri.

Una creuza, la tipica stradina ligure, a Trigoso nel comune di Sestri Levante.
Probabilmente questa non è la via più bella e ben tenuta del borgo di Trigoso ma comunque è una via proprio tipica e, anche se un pochino trascurata rispetto al resto del borgo, trasuda la storia e tutto il passato delle persone che vi ci hanno transitato negli anni.

Here is where the small village is located:

The two toponyms, Riva and Trigoso, were combined for the first time in 1874, in the name of the railway station “Riva-Trigoso”, then located halfway between the two villages. The joint name gradually entered common use, to improperly identify the single fraction of Riva.
