The view of the Geirangerfjord from the ship. Travelling by ship (I was on the Costa Firenze) along the famous Geirengerfjord you can admire a spectacle of nature that is still almost uncontaminated.

The Geirangerfjord (Geirangerfjorden) is a fjord in the Norwegian region of Sunnmøre in the south of the county of Møre og Romsdal. It is a branch of the much larger Storfjorden and within it is the famous village of Geiranger. The fjord is one of the most visited natural sites in Norway and since 2005 it is included, together with the Nærøyfjord, in the List of World Heritage Sites drawn up by UNESCO. The presence of these two fjords in the list is however threatened by a plan to build some power lines through the fjord. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

Some waterfalls seen while sailing through the Geirangerfjord. Last year I sailed, a couple of months, taking cruises in the Norwegian fjords. Perhaps the most famous is Geiranger and its waterfalls. The Geirangerfjord is a fjord located in the western region of Norway, famous for its breathtaking beauty and spectacular natural landscape. It was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005, recognizing its ecological and landscape importance.
Here are some of the distinctive features of the Geirangerfjord: 1. Incredible Landscape: The Geirangerfjord is surrounded by steep mountains, cliffs and towering peaks that rise vertically from the waters of the fjord. This landscape creates an extraordinary visual spectacle, with spectacular waterfalls, green valleys and small villages dotting the coastline. 2. Seven Sisters and Bride's Veil: The Seven Sisters and Bride's Veil are some of the most famous waterfalls in the Geirangerfjord. The Seven Sisters are seven separate waterfalls that cascade down the mountains and the Bride's Veil is a thin waterfall that looks like a veil hanging along a rock face. 3. Fjord Cruises: One of the best ways to explore the Geirangerfjord is through boat cruises that offer a unique perspective of its spectacular rock formations and waterfalls. During the cruise, visitors can enjoy panoramic views and discover the rich flora and fauna of the region. 4. Dalsnibba: The Dalsnibba viewpoint offers a breathtaking view of the Geirangerfjord and the surrounding mountains. Situated at an altitude of around 1,500 metres, this viewpoint allows visitors to admire the full beauty of the fjord. 5. Outdoor activities: The region around the Geirangerfjord offers numerous opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking, mountain walking and kayaking. Nature lovers can explore the trails that lead to spectacular panoramic views and enjoy an immersive experience of Norwegian nature. 6. UNESCO World Heritage: In 2005, the Geirangerfjord was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, recognising its ecological importance and unique value as one of the most spectacular fjords in the world.
In short, the Geirangerfjord is a Norwegian treasure, a gem of natural beauty that attracts visitors from all over the world for its majesty and magical atmosphere. The luminous elegance of the sunflower flower: a sun on earth. In the world of flowers, few represent joy, brightness and optimism as much as the sunflower. This sunny flower captures the gaze and hearts with its simple elegance, carrying a message of positivity that captivates everyone who encounters it. The sunflower is a symbol of happiness and positive energy. Its distinctive shape, with its compact center surrounded by golden petals, looks like a small version of the sun. Watching a field of sunflowers following the sunlight throughout the day is an image that fills the soul with warmth and serenity. This flower is known for its behavior of chasing the sunlight, rotating its head during the day to follow the path of the sun. This attitude has been interpreted as a sign of optimism and perseverance. Sunflowers teach us to look for the light even on the darkest days. Giving a sunflower as a gift is a gesture full of meaning. It is a message of affection and hope for a bright future. In many cultures, the sunflower is associated with concepts of love, friendship and appreciation. It is a gift that can brighten the day of anyone who receives it. The sunflower has inspired artists, poets and writers throughout the ages. It has become an iconic subject in works of art, from famous paintings to touching photographs. But its true beauty lies in the fact that it is not just a symbol in human culture, but a precious element of nature. In a sometimes frenetic world, the sunflower reminds us to slow down and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. It invites us to celebrate life, to look for the light even in the darkest moments and to spread joy and positivity wherever we go.
The sunflower is much more than just a flower. It is a bringer of joy, a symbol of optimism, and a reminder to connect with nature and ourselves. Next time you see a sunflower, take a moment to contemplate it and remember the importance of spreading warmth and light into the lives of others, just as this beautiful flower does.

The generic name (Helianthus) derives from two Greek words: "helios" (= sun) and "anthos" (= flower) in reference to the plant's tendency to always turn its bud towards the sun, before flowering (the mature flower instead always faces east). This behavior is known as heliotropism. Continue and learn more on Wikipedia

Portofino seen from above. A few months ago I walked the beautiful (and rather long) path that starts from Santa Margherita Ligure and, passing by Monte di Portofino, reaches San Fruttuoso di Camogli and then returns to the splendid Portofino. When you are about to arrive in the village there are a couple of truly spectacular points to photograph the beautiful seaside village famous throughout the world.

The almost uncontaminated nature of Vietnam. During my vacation, now a year ago, in Vietnam I have left in my memory but also in my archive, dozens of photographs of magnificent places, where nature still reigns supreme. This, for example, was the park in Trang An in the Ninh Binh region where on board small boats you cross lakes and waterways through caves and breathtaking landscapes of which I leave you a couple of photos. It is no coincidence that the site has been a UNESCO heritage site since 2014 (here for their page in English dedicated to this place).
