Fountain of the Four Rivers: Rio de La Plata

Fountain of the Four Rivers: Rio de La Plata
It's difficult to go to Rome and not go and admire the Fountain of the Four Rivers, located in the centre of Piazza Navona: it is a gigantic monument, designed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini in the 17th century and depicting the 4 most important waterways in the world.
The photo depicts the Rio de La Plata, which – according to a legend that I don’t think is well-founded but is still fun – was sculpted in this curious position because it was trying to protect itself from the collapse of the bell tower of the church of Sant’Agnese in Agone opposite, built by Bernini’s historic rival, Francesco Borromini.

Arch of Constantine in Rome

Arco di Costantino a Roma

Arch of Constantine in Rome.
One of the most beautiful views of Rome: the very famous Arch seen from the Colosseum and processed in HDR.
A unique spectacle in the world that can only be seen in Rome and that the whole world envies us.
When I published this image I was a little slave to HDR which probably didn't embellish the shot much.
It means I'll have to go back!

The Arch of Constantine is a triumphal arch with three arches (with a central passage flanked by two smaller lateral passages), located in Rome, a short distance from the Colosseum. In addition to its considerable historical importance as a monument, the Arch can be considered as a true museum of official Roman sculpture, extraordinary in its richness and importance.

La vista che si gode dal cupolone di San Pietro è sicuramente impareggiabile. Questa in particolare mostra il Vittoriano (o Altare della Patria) e, se aguzzate la vista anche il Colosseo.

The very famous square, a notable example of Baroque architecture and urban planning, is dedicated to the saint of the same name and is a daily meeting point for thousands of Catholic faithful from all over the world.
The space of the square is made up of two parts: the first is shaped like an inverted trapezium whose longest side corresponds to the façade with specific perspective motivations (to cancel the great distance between the square and the basilica) and the second, larger, oval-shaped part with the Egyptian obelisk in the centre.

The Colosseum photographed at night.
Rome certainly doesn't need my description, nor does the Colosseum... Let me just say that in the evening, with an almost full moon, taking a walk through the Imperial Forums is definitely one of the experiences you will remember forever!

The Colosseum, originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre or simply as Amphitheatrum, is the largest amphitheatre in the world, located in the centre of the city of Rome. Able to hold an estimated 50,000 to 75,000 spectators, it is the most important Roman amphitheatre, as well as the most impressive monument of ancient Rome that has come down to us, known throughout the world as a symbol of the city of Rome and one of the symbols of Italy.
