La cassetta delle lettere della casa dell’Arcidiacono

La cassetta delle lettere della casa dell’Arcidiacono a Barcellona.
Passeggiando in centro a barcellona e volendomi spostare dalla classica Rambla, mi sono avviato verso la cattedrale cittadina e lungo la strada ho trovato questa splendida cassetta delle lettere (della casa dell’Arcidia, l’Arcidiacono di Barcellona) finemente decorata.
Mi piaciono molto le cinque rondini e la tartaruga. Lo stemma invece non riesco a capire a che famiglia appartenga.

La Casa de l’Ardiaca (in italiano Casa dell’Arcidiacono) è un edificio che si trova nel Barri Gótico di Barcellona. L’edificio è stato costruito nel XII secolo sopra l’antica muraglia romana ed era una delle residenze dei canonici di Barcellona. Alla fine del XV secolo l’edificio divenne la residenza dell’arcidiacono Lluís Desplà che trasformò la casa in un palazzetto gotico.

A swallows' nest in the alley of Sestri Levante.
In spring and autumn, the alley of Sestri Levante hosts dozens of swallows every year that build their nests under the terraces or under the awnings of the shops.
They circle, chirp (or rather, chatter) and make me so happy!
Here I photographed the little ones, who are even smaller than they are, waiting for their anxious parents!

Most swallows are insectivorous and catch insects in flight. The composition of their insect diet varies depending on the species and the time of year. Some species may be selective and not catch every insect they encounter in flight, preferring larger prey. They also avoid certain types of prey, especially stinging insects such as bees and wasps.

Swallows in the alleyway of Sestri Levante in May.
Like every year, in the month of May, swallows arrive in my Sestri Levante and crowd, mainly, the city alleyway.
They make nests under the terraces or under the awnings and they fly and chatter among the tourists!
I also like them a lot because they are very useful animals that feed on insects.

A swallows' nest in Sestri Levante.
Every year in Sestri Levante, and always in the same places, you can see some swallows' nests.
This one, at the end of the alley, is under a terrace.
At this moment the nestling is anxiously waiting for some food. In the second photo the mother (or father) is bringing something to put under their beak.
