The Monument to the Fallen for Freedom in Santa Margherita Ligure.
Every time I find a statue in memory of the sacrifice of women and men for our Freedom I always try to photograph it to remember its value.
This monument, on the seafront of Santa Margherita Ligure, brings back the memory of the dead of the Great War and the Second World War.

Travelling along the Via Aurelia, in the stretch that passes above and connects Rapallo to Recco (passing through Ruta di Camogli) spectacular views open up over the coast and the coastal towns.
Like at this point just above the town of Santa Margherita.

This is more or less the point where I took the shot:
The bas-relief dedicated to Balin Seghezzo in the centre of Santa Margherita Ligure.
This work is placed in memory of the founder of the historic Seghezzo grocery store in Santa, Balin Seghezzo.
Since 1900 and still open today (it is next to the bas-relief) it makes known the delicacies of the area with local products (and not only) of excellent gastronomy.
This is what the plaque under the bas-relief says:

La Chiesa di San Lorenzo della Costa che domina il Tigullio Occidentale.
Percorrendo la strada Aurelia nel tratto tra Rapallo e Recco si scavalla il Monte di Portofino e poco prima di arrivare nel punto più alto di passa nella piccola frazione di San Lorenzo la cui chiesa ed il campanile godono di una vista eccezionale.

Distante all’incirca quattro chilometri dal centro urbano sammargheritese, la frazione collinare è situata a 198 metri sul livello del mare lungo uno sperone roccioso circondato da tipiche coltivazioni ad ulivi con la caratteristica tecnica ligure dei terrazzamenti.

The arcades of Piazza Martiri della Libertà in Santa Margherita Ligure.
The beautiful village of Santa (as it is normally called) has, like all Ligurian villages, several areas with arcades.
Like in this part of the town, famous for being a meeting place for young people (and not only) on Riviera evenings.
There are in fact several small restaurants and a couple of bars where you can enjoy the evening in company.

The churchyard with the risseu in Piazza Caprera in Santa Margherita Ligure.
The beautiful Piazza Caprera with the churchyard in risseu (the round pebbles, usually black and white) of the church of Nostra Signora della Rosa. The equally beautiful porticoes frame the square and in one section they are also decorated with very nice frescoes.

Spaghetti with clams and bottarga.
According to my girlfriend, up until now, they are almost the best spaghetti with clams that she has eaten in Italy.
With the addition of bottarga they have even more flavor!
We tasted them at the Caffè del Porto restaurant in Santa Margherita Ligure (the website caffedelportosanta.it).
