The departure, at night, from the port of Savona. Some time ago I was on board the ex Costa Firenze (of Costa Crociere) and one evening, we had a bit of a delay in leaving, we set sail later than usual from Savona. I therefore had the opportunity to take some night photos of the area in front of the port and, in full view, of the Leon Pancaldo Tower.

Il culto di san Biagio, protettore, fra l’altro, dei cardatori di lana, è probabilmente uno dei più antichi del Finale. La produzione e il commercio di torselli lanici è un’attività tradizionale del Finalese, documentata per la prima volta nel 1128 dal regolamento del dazio di Genova, in cui gli abitanti di Finale compaiono come esportatori di lana e canapa.

Palazzo Nazionale in piazza del Tribunale a Finalborgo. Il palazzo del Tribunale di questo borgo era dove veniva amministrata la giustizia sotto il dominio dei Marchesi del Carretto. Via Giovanni Nicotera a Finalborgo. Non è la prima foto di questa via che pubblico sul sito ma devo dire che essendo una delle principali del borgo ligure è facile fotografarla percorrendola. Un borgo veramente splendido Finalborgo e vi invito, se potete e potrete, a visitarlo!

The Arch of Vittorio Emanuele I in Finalborgo. Through the streets of Finalborgo, the splendid hamlet of the municipality of Finale Ligure in the Savona area. The beauty of this village is the colours of the houses that use all the shades of red and yellow. This is a beautiful arch taken from the back that overlooks the main square of the village.

Via Giovanni Nicotera a Finalborgo. Una delle vie principali del bel borgo nel savonese ligure. Ho detto via ma è probabilmente meglio chiamarla vicolo o carrugio.

The Royal Gate in Finalborgo. Although there are several entrances or gates to enter the ancient and splendid village of Finalborgo, the one called Royal is certainly the most beautiful and well-known. Partly because of the frescoes on the outside, partly because there are the old walls and partly because you can glimpse, just behind the walls, the church and the bell tower of San Biagio. A sight that welcomes you!

The town was developed in the Finalese hinterland, not directly on the sea to be more protected against possible Saracen landings on the coast, in an easily defensible place: the confluence of the Aquila torrent with the Pora torrent, whose riverbeds form a single natural moat, later reinforced by the city walls, which defended the town on the east-south-west sides, while the northern side of the town was naturally protected by the spur of the Becchignolo hill. Alleys and arches of Borgio Verezzi. Walking through the narrow streets and alleys of the village of Verezzi, in the province of Savona, you can get lost in your imagination and the beauty of the details. The village itself is not very big but perhaps this is precisely its beauty. Look at this purple with the arches, seen in many historic villages such as Finalborgo but also in Varese Ligure and Chiavari, which connect the houses.
