A sushi boat on a ship

A sushi boat on a ship.
Now a global dish, it certainly cannot be missing on board cruise ships.
Obviously these shots were taken in the restaurant Sushino now present, I believe, on all Costa ships.

Sushi is a set of typical Japanese dishes based on rice, along with other ingredients such as fish, nori seaweed or eggs. The filling is raw (or in some variants cooked) and can be served placed on rice, rolled in a strip of seaweed, arranged in rice rolls or inserted into a small pocket of tofu.

Nigiri and sashimi also on the cruise ship

Nigiri and sashimi also on the cruise ship.
I am not an extreme lover of sushi but I make an exception for nigiri (raw fish placed on rice) and sashimi (raw fish).
What scares me the most, normally, is not knowing exactly the quality and conditions of preparation and conservation of fresh fish.
Being on board a Costa Crociere ship and knowing the strict health rules, I happily eat raw fish on board when I go to the Sushino restaurant!

The history of sushi begins in ancient times, when rice cultivation came to Japan two thousand years ago. The original sushi was created in Nara to preserve fish in fermented rice. During the Muromachi period, rice began to be eaten in addition to fish, while in the Edo period, vinegar replaced fermented rice. In pre-modern and modern times, sushi has become a form of fast food strongly associated with Japanese culture.

Trays of great sushi in Palma de Mallorca

Vassoi di sushi a palma

Trays of excellent sushi in Palma de Mallorca.
Several weeks ago I went, with some colleagues, to visit and eat at the market de l’olivar in Palma de Mallorca.
Among the various stalls of fish, ham, fruit and Spanish street food there was also this stall that prepared and sold sushi.
We were captivated by the atmosphere and we made ourselves a mixed tray (before obviously moving on to the Spanish food).
It wasn’t bad and above all the counter with pebbles and petals wasn’t bad: very oriental!

A nice plate of sushi in Spain

Piatto di sushi a Palma

Sushi plate in Spain.
Another beautiful photo of sushi enjoyed at the Olivar market in Palma de Mallorca.
I'm not a fan of this food but I must admit that every now and then I like to eat it and especially photograph it.
Here I also thought the counter where they served it was really beautiful (with these little stones), don't you think?
