A romantic alley in the historic center of Verona.
Some time ago, now, I was in beautiful Verona with my wife. For dinner we went to a restaurant in the center (not far from the famous Juliet's terrace) where I had been once before.
The atmosphere in the alley where the tables are located, outside the restaurant, was really very romantic, don't you think?

The beautiful and ancient Piazza delle Erbe in the center of Verona.
When visiting Verona there are three attractions that no one can miss and which are all in the center.
We start with the Arena, the very famous Roman amphitheater and from there, through the historic center we go to look for Juliet Capulet's terrace.
Along the way we pass by the beautiful and ancient Piazza delle Erbe with its medieval buildings built on the Roman ones.

Verona Arena.
One of the symbolic monuments of Latin Italy is this amphitheater second only to the Colosseum.
I realized that I have never dedicated a single post to this monument despite having been in Verona a few years ago.

The Arena of the city of Verona is a Roman amphitheater located in the historic center of Verona, an icon of the Venetian city together with the figures of Romeo and Juliet. It is one of the great buildings that have characterized Roman ludic architecture and is the ancient amphitheater with the best degree of conservation, thanks to the systematic restorations carried out since the seventeenth century. Codfish Vicenza style

Baccalà alla vicentina.
There are many ways to prepare baccalà, but one of the most famous in Italy is baccalà alla vicentina.
From the excellent restaurant, a few meters from Juliet's balcony, Greppia.

I found, while searching for a simple recipe, the website of the Confraternity of this dish, here, where you can find out more and learn more.

Baccalà or baccalà alla vicentina (locally Bacałà ała Vicentina) is a typical dish of Vicenza cuisine based on stockfish (dried cod). It must be crushed, then soaked for three days, in water changed several times, so that it rehydrates and softens, then cleaned of bones and partially floured, seasoned with parsley, garlic, pepper, chopped onion and stewed with some salted sardines. It is closed like a sandwich, cut into slices and placed in an earthenware pan with a base of two fingers of olive oil. It is sprinkled with more oil and fresh whole milk and then cooked on a very low heat for a few hours. It is served with both white and yellow polenta, preferably sliced.
