The Basilica of San Petronio.
In Piazza Maggiore, the center of Bologna, there is also the most important church (or at least the largest): its Basilica dedicated to San Petronio.
To tell the truth, it is the grandeur of the building (and the fact that it is made of bricks) that captures the attention because inside the naves are rather austere.
The unfinished facade, the majestic nave, the Bolognini chapel, the Cassini sundial and the High Altar; these are some of the things to see.

The Basilica of San Petronio (Baṡéllica ed San Ptròni in Bolognese) is the largest church in Bologna: it dominates the Piazza Maggiore in front of it and, despite being largely unfinished, is one of the largest churches in Europe. Its imposing dimensions make it the fourth largest church in Italy.
