Dream Beaches: Coconut Bay in Tobago

Spiagge da sogno: Coconut Bay a Tobago

Dream Beaches: Coconut Bay in Tobago.
A few months ago, while travelling through the Caribbean on a cruise ship, I discovered a beautiful beach on the island of Tobago, part of the twin-island country of Trinidad and Tobago. We had originally planned to spend some time at the better-known Store Bay Beach, but the conditions that day were not quite what we had hoped for. The sea was a little rough, and there was not much beach space available, so we decided to walk a few hundred metres and see what else we could find.
That short walk led us to the private beach at the Coco Reef resort, in the area we knew as Coconut Bay. Access was certainly not cheap—in fact, we paid quite a lot for the privilege—but once we arrived, we felt that the change of plan had been worthwhile. It was the kind of Caribbean setting that makes you want to put everything else aside for a while and simply enjoy the moment.
The beach offered the perfect opportunity to slow down. After the journey from the ship and the initial disappointment at Store Bay, we could finally settle in, enjoy the tropical surroundings and spend some time by the water. When travelling on a cruise, every stop has a time limit, so there is always a balance between exploring a destination and making the most of a few relaxing hours.
I sometimes find that unexpected changes make a holiday more memorable. We had set out for one beach, but the conditions encouraged us to look elsewhere. Although paying for access to a private beach was an expensive alternative, it gave us the chance to enjoy a peaceful half-day in a beautiful setting. We could relax, take in the scenery and appreciate being in Tobago without having to rush between different attractions.
Tobago is a wonderful destination for anyone dreaming of a Caribbean escape, with its tropical vegetation, coastal scenery and inviting beaches. Even a short visit can leave a lasting impression, especially when you discover somewhere that was not part of the original plan. For me, these little surprises are one of the pleasures of travelling: sometimes the best moments happen when you decide to try something different.
I wanted to share this photograph as a reminder of that lovely day at Coconut Bay. Despite the cost of admission, we enjoyed a memorable break from our cruise itinerary and had the chance to experience a beautiful corner of the Caribbean.

Dream Beaches: Cu Lao Cham in Vietnam

Spiagge da sogno: Cu Lao Cham in Vietnam

Dream Beaches: Cu Lao Cham in Vietnam.
When I think about Vietnam, I often remember its lively cities, colourful markets, green landscapes and busy streets. Yet the country also has some wonderful beaches, and the Cham Islands, known locally as Cu Lao Cham, were a particularly pleasant discovery during my travels. The clear water and beautiful coastal scenery made this place feel like a little tropical paradise.
The Cham Islands lie off the central Vietnamese coast, roughly twenty kilometres from the mainland and not far from the historic town of Hoi An. Many travellers visit Hoi An for its old streets, traditional architecture and colourful lanterns, but a trip out to the islands offers a completely different experience. Instead of exploring narrow lanes and bustling markets, you can spend time beside the sea, enjoy the tropical surroundings and appreciate a much quieter side of the region.
What impressed me most during my visit was the clarity of the water. In other parts of Vietnam, I had sometimes found the sea less transparent, with a greenish or cloudy appearance. I have often wondered how much rainfall, river water and sediment carried down from the mainland might contribute to these differences. In reality, seawater clarity depends on several factors, including currents, weather, waves, seasonal conditions and the shape of the seabed. The appearance of the sea can change considerably from one location to another, and even from one day to the next.
At Cu Lao Cham, however, I remember being struck by the beautiful colours of the water. In some places, it looked remarkably clear, shifting between pale green, turquoise and deeper blue. Combined with the sandy shoreline and tropical vegetation, it created exactly the kind of scene that makes you want to stop, look around and take photographs.
This is one of the things I enjoy most about travelling: discovering a place that adds a new perspective to a country I thought I already understood. Vietnam is often associated with its cities, cultural heritage and spectacular countryside, but its islands deserve attention too. A visit to the Cham Islands can provide a welcome change of pace after exploring Hoi An, with time for swimming, relaxing on the beach and simply enjoying the coastal scenery.
The islands are also part of a protected marine area, recognised for their coastal and marine biodiversity. Their natural beauty is a reminder that these environments need care. Avoiding litter, respecting marine life and following local guidance are simple ways to help preserve the beaches and surrounding waters.
Looking back at the photographs from my trip, I still think the title “Dream Beaches” is well deserved. The clear water and peaceful scenery made Cu Lao Cham one of those places that stay in your memory long after the journey has ended.

Accra Beach, a Dream Beach in Barbados

Spiagge da sogno: Accra Beach a Bridgetown a Barbados

Accra Beach, a Dream Beach in Barbados.
Whenever I get the chance to leave the ship during a Caribbean stop, I try to spend at least part of my time by the sea. My schedule on board does not always allow me to explore as much as I would like, so a few hours on a beautiful beach can become one of the highlights of a visit. A few months ago, during a stop in Bridgetown, Barbados, I managed to visit Accra Beach, also known as Rockley Beach, on the island’s southern coast.
Sometimes the best way to discover a destination is simply to head for the shoreline and enjoy the landscape. Barbados offers plenty of opportunities for that, with its tropical vegetation, bright sand and wonderfully varied shades of blue. Accra Beach is located in the Rockley area, around 4.4 kilometres from Bridgetown according to the official Visit Barbados guide to Accra Beach, making it a convenient choice for visitors who have limited time ashore.
The beach is also known by both names, Accra Beach and Rockley Beach. Its broad stretch of sand, coastal greenery and open views make it an inviting place to relax, take a walk or simply sit and watch the waves. The sea changes colour with the light, shifting between shades of turquoise and deeper blue. For anyone who enjoys travel photography, these natural contrasts provide plenty of inspiration without the need for elaborate planning.
What I particularly like about visiting beaches during a cruise is the change of pace. Life on board follows its own schedule, while a few hours beside the sea offer the freedom to slow down and enjoy the moment. At Accra Beach, the shoreline itself becomes the main attraction: the movement of the water, the texture of the sand and the tropical surroundings are enough to make the visit memorable.
The photographs accompanying this article capture my own experience of this corner of Barbados. I took them to preserve the memory of a pleasant break during the journey and to share a glimpse of the island with readers of Lucadea.com. I often find that a photograph can communicate the feeling of a place more directly than a long description. Sometimes the colours and the view really do speak for themselves.
Accra Beach is also a lively part of the island’s south coast, with nearby places to eat, local shops and access to the coastal boardwalk. The Visit Barbados beach guide provides further information about the area’s facilities and activities. Sea conditions can vary, however, so it is always worth paying attention to local advice before swimming.
I may not always have enough time to explore every corner of a Caribbean island, but finding a beach like this makes a short visit feel special. Accra Beach gave me exactly the kind of break I look forward to when travelling through the Caribbean: sunshine, sea air and a beautiful coastal landscape to remember long after returning to the ship.

Dream Beaches: Ky Co in Quy Nhon, Vietnam

Spiagge da sogno: Ky Co nel Quy Nhon in Vietnam

Dream Beaches: Ky Co in Quy Nhon, Vietnam.
Ky Co Beach, located about 25 kilometers northeast of Quy Nhon city center in the island municipality of Nhon Ly, is one of the most captivating tourist destinations in central Vietnam. Known for its unique beauty, this beach offers a combination of white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and rocky mountains surrounding it on three sides.
Ky Co Beach features a crescent-shaped coastline, with breathtaking waves and stretches of white sand. At low tide, the rocks surrounding the beach reveal caves and form beautiful pools. Visitors can rent canoes to explore the coral on the nearby islets or opt for scuba diving to admire the marine life.
Ky Co offers a variety of activities for visitors, including jet skiing, fishing, and simply relaxing on the beach. There’s also a long wooden bridge in the center of the beach, ideal for photos. The beach is well-maintained, with staff ensuring it remains free of plastic, making it one of the least polluted beaches in Vietnam.
One of the most spectacular moments at Ky Co is watching the spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Despite its popularity, the beach is not overly crowded, especially in the morning hours. However, it is advisable to visit early in the morning or on weekdays to avoid crowds.
To reach Ky Co Beach from the center of Quy Nhon, you can rent a motorbike, which is the most convenient option. Alternatively, there are tours available that include a boat ride to the island, a meal, and diving.
Seafood is a regional specialty, with dishes including grilled sea urchin, abalone, snails, scallops, and cockles. However, the restaurant service at Ky Co is still under development, so more dining options can be found in the center of Quy Nhon.
Ky Co Beach is a perfect place for those seeking natural beauty, recreation, and tranquility. It’s a destination that combines the best of central Vietnam, ideal for an unforgettable vacation.

Dream Beaches: Long Bay in Tortola

Spiagge da sogno: Long Bay a Tortola

Dream beaches: Long Bay in Tortola.
For the second time in my life, I’m coming to this beautiful Caribbean beach, located on the small island called Beef Island, connected to the larger and more famous island of Tortola.
The sea was a little rougher than last time, but the colors… they are still those dreamy Caribbean ones.
A 700-meter beach, very popular, but still, on the stretch towards the airport, it retains a touch of pristine charm.

Monterosso beach in the Cinque Terre coast

Spiagge da sogno: Monterosso al Mare in Liguria

Monterosso beach in the Cinque Terre coast.
Monterosso al Mare beach, along the Cinque Terre coastline in Liguria, is one of the places where the connection between the villages and the sea can be seen most clearly. Walking along the shore, the contrast between sand and the small light-coloured rounded stones immediately catches the eye and gives this beach its distinctive appearance.
When I think about places to see in the Cinque Terre, Monterosso is certainly one of the villages that deserves a stop, especially because it offers something different from the other towns in the area. It is one of the few places in the Cinque Terre with a real beach where visitors can stay close to the sea, while many other villages are built directly on rocky cliffs.
I took this photograph because I wanted to capture a simple detail that represents the character of this coastline. The beach is not only made of sand; the small smooth stones shaped by the sea create a natural pattern that changes with the waves and the seasons. These details are often easy to overlook, but they are exactly what makes a place recognizable.
Monterosso al Mare is located in the province of La Spezia, Liguria, Italy, and it is the first village of the Cinque Terre when arriving from the west. Its position, with the beach close to the village centre, makes it one of the most visited places in the area for those looking for what to see in the Cinque Terre while also enjoying the seaside landscape.
A small curiosity about the Cinque Terre coastline is that sandy beaches are quite rare because the area is mainly made of steep cliffs and rocky shores. For this reason, Monterosso beach has always had a special role among the five villages.
I captured this scene with my camera because I like photographing the small elements that help describe a place. A wide landscape can show where you are, but sometimes a simple detail like the texture of a beach can tell an equally important story.
This photograph naturally connects with other images I have shared on my website about the Cinque Terre and the Ligurian coast, where I have tried to show not only famous views but also smaller details that make these places unique.

For me, Monterosso beach is a perfect example of how a simple meeting between sand, stones and sea can become a memorable image. Have you ever walked along the beach of Monterosso al Mare? Add a comment or go to the bottom of the site to read what other visitors have written.
