Dina Bellotti Square in Sestri Levante without palm trees
Dina Bellotti Square in Sestri Levante without palm trees.
Unfortunately, the red palm weevil is changing the appearance of our town. The palm trees, a plant widely used in my area, are gradually disappearing, and this, as the title suggests, splendid square (dedicated to the famous painter), is now without the two palm trees in the middle.
The first photo is of the square now, while the second is from about a month ago.
Photos taken with Canon EOS M100 camera and Canon EF-S 10-18 lens.
Dina Bellotti became known as “the painter of the popes.” Starting in the first half of the 1970s, she created several portraits of Paul VI and, later, of John Paul II, which are preserved in the Vatican and used as official images of the pontiffs.
